The Elementary Years
About the Learning Program
These classes are designed to empower parents to teach their children literacy, math and other skills using evidence-based materials and methods. This supplements formal literacy and math education through direct instruction to parents and children with customized materials and support.
Parents and children both come to class. While the kids work on skills, parents receive a lecture on a particular topic. Materials are sent home monthly allowing parents to work with their children throughout the month. We will be following Covid-19 guidelines during our in-person class time based on CDC recommendations when classes convene in the fall.
Level 1 Classes (Ages 4 - 7* years)
Level 1 classes meet once/month on Saturday mornings from 8:30 - 10:00 am;

Level 2 is for students who repeated Level 1 or are 5-to 9* years old (this age range is just a guideline: appropriate class level is dependent on the student's skill level). The lecture and materials in Level 2 build on skills acquired in Level 1, adding higher-level literacy skills (spelling and comprehension) and introducing subjects such as addition, time, and money.
This class features monthly parent lectures while your child is working in a classroom with LP trained parents. You will leave each class with materials to use at home with your child.
$350.00 for Sept 2023 thru May 2024

Level 1 is our foundational class for anyone new to the program or returning students ages 4-to 7-years old. Level 1 focuses on building literacy and math skills and enhancing learning at school and at home. Parents and children meet monthly - parents attend a lecture about an academic topic while children work with LP trained teachers in a classroom (parents or an adult must be in attendance with their child).
Many of the monthly parent lectures align with subjects learned in Kindergarten/First Grade and, each month, you will leave with materials to use with your child at home. Please note: Students should be 4-years old by July 31, 2023, or have attended the Early Childhood Class to be eligible to enter Level 1.

Level 2 Classes (Ages 5 - 9* years)
Level 2 classes meet once/month on Saturday mornings from 10:30 - 12:00 am;

Level 3 Classes (Ages 8 - 10+* years)
Level 3 classes meet once/month on Saturday morning from 10:30 - 12:00am

Level 3 is for students who repeated Level 2 or are between 8 to 10+ years old, depending on skill level (please note, the age range is just a guideline). Lecture and materials continue to build on skills acquired in Level 2, continuing with literacy and math skills (e.g., comprehension, grammar, writing, subtraction, higher-level math skills), focusing on building independence and social skills (friendships, character traits, etc.)

Our Jr. Grad Group is for students who have completed our Learning Program Level 3 class, are in 4th and 5th grades, and are interested in staying involved with their friends. This class is a combination of academics and social skills - we “branch out” a bit to work on fun, academic-based games; social interaction; and we do things like work on reading menus, ordering and paying for food, and then taking a field trip one Saturday to a restaurant to practice those skills. Jr. Grad Group is a "precursor" to our Maren Prep Classes and is a great way to continue to build skills. Please note: this is a child-only class (yes, parents - you can drop them off OR join the Level 3 lecture to “refresh” your memory on academic strategies/tactics as they meet at the same time).
Cost: $250.00/session for Sept 2023 - May 2024
